Pandora, the music discovery site, has acquired live events service Ticketfly for approximately $450 million.
Ticketfly, founded in 2008, provides ticketing and marketing software for about 1,200 venues and promoters across North America, the press release says. With this acquisition, Pandora — which has about 80 million users — is aiming to make it easier for fans to find and buy tickets for upcoming music events.
“This is a game-changer for Pandora — and much more importantly — a game-changer for music,” said Brian McAndrews, CEO at Pandora. “With Ticketfly, we will thrill music lovers and lift ticket sales for artists as the most effective marketplace for connecting music makers and fans.”
