For Immediate Release: CHANGING LIVES ONE NOTE AT A TIME
Riverside, CA – Across the Inland Empire there are several artistic young students who are looking for a way to showcase their talents. On Saturday, May 17, 2014 Music Changing Lives, a non-profit music and art after school program for at-risk youth will host the 3rd annual Changing Lives Showcase to give some very talented students the opportunity to perform in front of their community. The showcase will be held at University of California Riverside from 4pm-7pm and is a red carpet extravaganza.
The Changing Lives Showcase is a performance arts competition, between Vista Del Lago and Moreno Valley High School in the Moreno Valley Unified School District. Students in grades 9th-12th submitted their artworks to compete, while only 18 entries have been accepted. There are four categories students will be honored in: music, art, disc jockey and dance. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges. Celebrity judges include Ashley Williams, a contestant on Fox’s X-factor, Miss Alynette, host of the Middays on the 805’s number one station Q104.7, and 2ND II None, an LA-based rap group. The art will be judged by representatives from the Riverside Arts Museum.
Each entry received contains a truly inspirational message. As students prepared to compete in the showcase they also fought to increase their GPA and spent a total of five hours cleaning their school campuses. Students are instilled with the message, “Together we can be the change we would like to see in our community.”
The Changing Lives Showcase is sponsored by Music Changing Lives, MVUSD, Wells Fargo Bank, UC Riverside, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Target, Kohl’s, Edison International, Clothes the Deal, Marinello Beauty School, Moreno Valley Flow Box, Goliath Graffix Children’s Fund and the Community Foundation. Through their support, The Changing Lives Showcase helps spread a positive message about the benefits of expressing yourself through the arts while making school “cool.”
