If you haven't heard yet there is a new sound coming to town (well the world that is).. Actually it's already here. Get ready for an immersive experience to all entertainment, music, marketing advertisements and more. What a great time to be alive! Audio is taking our listening experience to another level and it's quite exciting! For the past several years the music industry has been working behind the scenes perfecting the quality of Dolby Atmos and/or Spatial Audio in music.
Now you may be familiar with Dolby Atmos sound or similar to known as "Surround Sound" which we can get somewhat of an experience at the movie theatres and especially if the film sound is perfected for Dolby Atmos listening. Let's brief first on difference of Dolby Atmos vs. Spatial Audio, which is kind of the same yet different. While Spatial Audio offers a more adaptable and device-agnostic approach, Dolby Atmos stands out for precise sound objective placement. - states soundcore in March 2024 article "Understanding Spatial Audio vs. Dolby Atmos: A Detailed Guide... Therefore Spatial Audio Refers to the process of placing different sounds in different location of the room. - states Dolby.
Dolby Atmos didn't suddenly appear, as it's kind of been around for a bit, while also in the development of perfecting the sound, as well altering the industries production for perfected Dolby Atmos releases. In early 2023 my good affiliate friend Juicetrackz of Bravestone Records shared the experience to come. Dolby Atmos premiered back in April of 2012, introduced in the PIXAR movie Brave film, and by May of 2021 Dolby Atmos announced "Spatial Audio and Lossless Audio". Therefore lil over 10 years of perfecting Dolby Atmos sound, were coming to the big debut, which looks like it's set for this year and going into 2025.
As we know in the music business, the majors (from legends no longer home) such as: Michael Jackson, The Doors, Whitney Houston, to all the current Greats of today, their music production has been updated to Dolby Atmos to swap out for the "old regular degular" sound we been familiar with. So for those of you indies who are still recording in the past, make sure to look into recording in Dolby Atmos ASAP! You will thank me later! 😁
Dolby Atmos and or Spatial Audio is the Sound of the Future, and it's here, soon to take over every listening ear. The first venue to feature Dolby Atmos is The Sphere in Las Vegas which it's opening night was 9.29.23, and Vehicles are also taking on the trend. Tesla announced it's debut in 2023 as well, in alignment with Apple Music. Apple Music adapted the sound May 17th of 2021. Spatial Audio is the future and it's happening now. And as the changes are in motion, Apple along with other platforms are also syncing with Dolby Atmos upload. Apple might soon pay Artist more for offering their music in Atmos. states theverge. And/or possibly require Only Spatial Audio/Dolby Atmos tracks in all throughout the music industry.
Today's Biggest music releases are dropping in Dolby Atmos. The Weeknd was one of the first to feature his projects in Dolby Atmos.
