@the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, June 20-22
The Music Center is bringing together fashion and dance with an upcoming presentation of Les Nuits (The Nights), June 20-22.
Based on the popular tales of A Thousand Nights and performed by France’s leading contemporary company, Ballet Preljocaj, Les Nuits promises to seduce the audience with the mysterious and flamboyant world of these legendary tales. Perhaps most importantly to our fashion community, Azzedine Alaïa will be designing the costumes and in the spirit of dance and fashion coming together, The Music Center has challenged two LA Fashion District based designers to create three looks inspired by the tales. Bri Seeley and Michelle Hébert will be displaying their designs at The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion before each performance. The designers will also be present to talk about the importance of fashion within the performing arts – both on and off the stage.
Bri Seeley, whom we’ve featured before on this blog, focuses on femininity while creating together looks embody sophistication, grace, confidence and empowerment. Bri was named 2012 Designer of the Year at Phoenix Fashion Week and WWDMAGIC’s 2013 Featured Emerging Designer.
Michelle Hébert is a luxury brand that intertwines art with design to create etheral evening wear. Michelle has been published in magazines, worked with actresses and singers, had pieces worn to the Academy Awards, Grammy’s and BET Awards. She was also featured in Phoenix Fashion Week’s 2013 Designer Challenge.
All ticket holders are invited to the pre-show mixer and DJ set on the rooftop of the new Ace Hotel (located in the Fashion District on 9th and Broadway) on Wednesday, June 18th from 5-8p.m. Opening night ticket holders have access to the official after party with DJ Mathieu Schreyer.
