Friends of Music Changing Lives;
Every day, we're excited to step on the Elementary school grounds. Each day we teach the students new songs and it is evident that they love to learn and perform them.
We are so happy to see the smiles on the kids’ faces as they practice their musical talents.
Our 6 – 11 year old students have learned to play Mary Had a Little Lamb and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. They listened carefully to their instructors and continuously practiced in the keyboard room and are now recording their own songs.
Although some students originally found it difficult to read sheet music, the instructors helped them through the process.
Our art students have thus far made paper flowers out of tissue and Valentine’s Day cards for their parents, Chines Lanterns out of the Music Changing Lives coloring book designed by our Redlands youth.
The end result will be a Red Carpet Extravaganza in the same fashion as the "Kids Choice Awards", but instead of celebrities being honored it will be our very own students.
Music Changing Lives joins NFL PLAY 60 a campaign designed to tackle childhood obesity by getting kids active through in-school, and after-school programs.
PLAY
We let the kids choose one sport that they enjoy, either football, basketball or baseball. Next, we divide them into three different categories. Currently, we have fifty kids in this program. We encourage them to go outside and play in order to make their lives healthier.
VOLUNTEER
Right now, MCL only has seven volunteers helping the kids in the NFL PLAY 60 program. Considering the number of students in this program will increase, we encourage more people get involved as volunteers to help our kids stay active and raise awareness about the importance of youth health.
COACH
Since our NFL PLAY 60 program consists of football, basketball and baseball, we're currently recruiting volunteers to coach the kids. The coach can offer essential tools to improve the kids’ skills and encourage them to continue staying in shape.
