Miley Cyrus will 'remain hospitalized,' had 'extreme allergic reaction'

'Miley is devastated about missing shows and possibly disappointing her fans,' statement says

Miley Cyrus isn't quite back to "just being Miley" yet. The "Wrecking Ball" singer, 21, is still recovering from her severe allergic reaction earlier this week, and will "remain hospitalized" for an indeterminate amount of time, her rep said in a statement to Us Weekly late Wednesday, April 16.

"Miley was suffering from a sinus infection during her tour in N.C. a week ago. She was prescribed the antibiotic cephalexin, which she has now suffered an extreme allergic reaction to," her rep said.

"This type of extreme reaction can last from 5 to 27 days in these types of cases."

The statement continued: "She will remain hospitalized and is under a doctor's care until we see some improvement and is asking for your compassion and privacy at this time. Miley is devastated about missing shows and possibly disappointing her fans."

Indeed, Cyrus tweeted on Thursday, April 17, that she was in tears over having to cancel concerts. "Over the hospital. I miss #bangerztour," she tweeted, alongside a hospital selfie. "Can't quit crying. I wanna go back on tour. Im meant to be onstage performing for y'all.... not laying in a hospital bed."

Earlier on Wednesday, the Bangerz tour star apologized to fans from her hospital bed for having to bail on her show in St. Louis, Mo. "The hospital is sayin I wont b released today," she wrote.

"Therefore Im not going 2 make it 2 St Louis. Im so sorry but some things are outta my control."

The St. Louis cancellation was her second this week; she was also unable to perform at her Kansas City concert on Tuesday, April 15. "Kansas I promise Im as heartbroken as you are. I wanted so badly 2 b there 2night," she tweeted, along with a picture of herself in the hospital. "Not being with yall makes me feel s----ier than I already do."
